Story (from website):
Facing the Giants is about a down-and-out coach and football team at a Christian high school, struggling with their own personal giants on the field and off. Failure, betrayal, fear, and hopelessness overwhelm the coach as he deals with a lackluster team, disgruntled parents, financial pressures, and the discovery that he and his wife can't have children. As he turns to God, his life begins to change.
Technical Info:
There is no offensive content in this film, everyone is dressed modestly, there is no foul language or violence (nothing above typical football action). The entire film quality may not be that of your average Hollywood film, but it holds it's own and is a giant leap forward from their first movie, Flywheel (which is also an awesome movie and available in many Blockbuster stores).
Angela's Take:
I saw this movie twice this weekend. It was AWESOME and has become my favorite current movie! I have to admit, sports tend to bore me, so movies like this have to have a good story to pull me in, and this one definitely did. What's even better is sitting in a theater, hearing the Name of Jesus being said, without reservation, without cursing. How often can you say that has ever happened? Not only is this film inspiring, but it teaches and reminds us to give God our best and trust in Him.
Highlights:
1. God expect us to give Him our best; and that sometimes means we could give Him more than what we already are, that we sometimes need to push ourselves, to sacrifice, get uncomfortable.
2. Tests of faith. Are we willing to serve and love God even when things don't go our way?
3. God loves us and He takes care of us, He wants to give His children the desires of our hearts.
If you haven't seen this movie, you're really missing out!
Wayne from Spotsylvania :
"Wasn't sure what to expect when my wife brought home this movie, but after we watched it, we both turned to each other and said, " We have to buy this movie!" What a wonderful uplifting movie this is. Then we watched the extras on how the movie was made and who made it. WOW!!! To use a line from the movie," What's impossible to GOD? Nothing!" A Must see indeed."
Angelica from Middletown :
"Facing The Giants was an incredibly positive movie about a Christian high school football coach that is down on his luck, and his wife that wants to have a baby so badly and can't seem to get pregnant. After a long period of trials and struggling financially, etc. the Lord gives them a break through, and God begins to pour out his blessings at school, students begin to give their lives to God, and his wife finds out she is expecting a baby!! A real tear jerker, keep plenty of kleenex close by :)"
Ann from Providence Forge :
"I bought this movie as soon as it came out. I love it and use it as a witnessing tool. I gave it to a unbeliever and she wants everyone she knows to see it. I love the fact the God cares about the little things in our lives too! And we do need to praise Him always."
Rebekah from Marshall :
"Oh my, this movie is a big must see. My whole family saw this movie and it is a 5 star movie. I like it because it is about Esther. I love reading about Esther."
Terri from Fredericksburg :
"I watched this with members of my church including our Pastor. We all loved it. The message was not just positive but showed how awesome GOD is. We all had a great time watching it and had a good conversation with our kids about the message. I would highly recommend this movie!!"
Jordan from Short Pump :
"This movie is one of the most AMAZING movies ever. We watched it in Youth Group, and everyone thought it was great. It shows how things that you thought would never happen, happen just like that! It's definitely inspiring, and challenges you to trust in the impossible with God. When I got home, I went out and bought the DVD, and made my whole family watch it with me again. A definitely MUST SEE!!"

What others had to say about this movie:
Saw this for the first time over the weekend, and honestly loved it. Yes,
they used amateur actors but I still thought they did a great job, the
filming/photography was excellent, the story was inspiring and uplifting
and yes, my wife and I BALLED like babies at the end! (when the dad stands
up at the end... I mean COME ON!)
I would (and have) whole-heartedly recommend it for anyone to see. It is
Rocky/Rudy/The Rookie/etc with a Gospel message!

BTW, last night was the "designated" night for two pre-screenings of the new Provident film, "Facing The Giants." Regardless of what you may have thought about other Provident film releases, allow me to encourage you to invite your entire staff and see for yourself this movie, to be released
in 65 markets and on over 400 screens come September 29.
It's the second time I've seen the film. Imho, it unequivocally yet very tastefully presents a clear picture of the Gospel in the context of also providing good entertainment. I'll not say much about it than that, except to say I am committed to praying this movie will continue to gain "legs" and momentum, for the sake of the Gospel.
