Story : (from website)
In The New World Order, who can you trust? Religious "fanatics"? The government? Ragtag militia? Religious "fanatics"?
After a dramatic escape from death row, former FBI agent Adam Riley (David A.R. White) reunites with his friend and mentor Jacob Krause (Brad Heller) leader of The Way, and his small remnant of Christians. Little do they know the forces out for their destruction. Global Alliance leader Commander Fredericks (Monte Perlin) has forced Adam's former partner Charles Baker (Kevin Downes) to hunt them down while a ragtag militia, led by "Captain" Jackson (Lonnie Colon), spy on them for their own gain. As events lead to an explosive confrontation, all will be forced to an awakening of the real struggle... for their very souls.
Technical Info:
Some fighting/violence scenes, guns, man shot, blood (not excessive), demonic "shadow type" figure shown (may scare very young viewers, but not excessively horrifying).
Angela's Take:
I have been waiting forever for this movie to be released. I have known that it was in the works for a long time and because of my love for the first, I was excited to grab the next one. However, like most sequels, it holds up, but never reaches the peak of the first.
Continuing from the end of the first film, Adam Riley "escapes" death row and stumbles on a group of believers hiding out in the desert. His former F.B.I. partner and friend is forced to go undercover to help bring him back in and dismantle the group of believers.
I was disappointed that the characters of two of my favorite actors from the first were performed by different actors (The Harris's). I also thought it seemed the part played by David White's wife was put in just so she could be in the movie, maybe this was not the case, but I felt there was a mini-story that never played out and because of that just added confusion and let-down. I also didn't like the idea that the chip implant or Mark of the Beast could be removed. I understand that it was for their story purposes, but I know so many people who live on the "edge" thinking that they will straighten up "right before the end" I feel that this may mislead people to think that the decision to receive the implant/mark of the beast is reversible giving them yet another excuse to "delay" God's calling. While I I do believe that God gives us more chances to come to Him than we could ever expect, I firmly believe that the decision to receive the mark is final and I cannot find any place in the Bible that contradicts that, Revelation 14:9-12.
Other than that, it was a pretty good film with some pretty awesome visual translations of scripture and of humanity.
My favorite points were their incorporation of Ephesians 6:12 and their take on non-violence and the realization of "whoever lives by the sword, dies by the sword" and "an eye for an eye" are so dramatically played out, they really give you a good visual for a deeper understanding of the full picture with the spiritual aspect as well. While there is a time for physical warfare, this movie show the reality of spiritual warfare, there is a difference and spiritual warfare, as in Ephesians 6:10-16, cannot be battled physically and is not against each other.
The characters struggle with revenge and anger and handing them over to God which I think is relevant to most everyone and I love the scene where Brad Heller's character is screaming out to God and just being open and honest before Him, validating his feelings and emotions and then through God, being able to let go.
I found this film to be both entertaining and enlightening. The filmmakers obviously have a passion for Jesus that shines through revealing the Gospel in their work, woven through the entire movie.
