There are so many great animals waiting to find homes at local shelters and rescue organization and there are many ways you can help! Check with a rescue organization in your area to find out what you can do!
Some ideas are listed below:
1. Adopt (or foster)
You can adopt or foster a pet (or two or three..)
2. Volunteer
Maybe you can't take one home, so what about volunteering your time walking and socializing animals or even helping out with adoption events, office work or fundraising?
Most shelters do not have enough employees to give each animal the attention it deserves. Just one or two hours here and there can make all the difference. Have more time? Even better!
3. Donate
Donations - many organizations accept not only monetary donations but food, blankets, toys, crates, clean newspapers, cat litter, cleaning supplies (bleach, sponges, scrub brushes, buckets, trash bags) and more. Check with your organization to find out their specific needs.
